How Ashton's Homemade Dog Treats came to be
Hi, I'm Ashton 👋
Kid entrepreneur, dog treat baker, and dingo defender
It started with a book
I read The Barefoot Kids and it gave me the idea to start my own business. I had already begun making homemade dog treats, so I decided to take it seriously — make proper products, spread the word, and turn it into something real.
Baking the treats
My mum and my friend Hamish help me bake the peanut butter biscuits. We make them fresh in small batches using real ingredients you could actually eat yourself. My dad helps me make the beef jerky strips.
Growing the business
I already had a Square reader to take payments, so I decided to build a website and make posters too. I share everything on Facebook so people in Glenbrook and nearby can find us and know when we're open.
Why dingoes?
I read Wandi — the true story of a dingo pup — and it made me want to do something to help dingoes. They are amazing Australian animals that deserve to be protected. That's why 25% of all our profits go to the Dingo Discovery Sanctuary, so I can help make a difference for dingoes across Australia.
